Barnesville, GA – Benning is in the final stages of completing a major renovation for Gordon State College’s Hightower Library.
The $5 million ‘facelift’ for the Library was funded by the Georgia Board of Regents as well as private funds from the College.
The original Hightower Library was built in 1978 and was named in 1986 for Dorothy Watson Hightower who served, with her husband, George Sr., on the Gordon Foundation Board.
The library contains 35,000 square feet and houses approximately 94,000 books, 30,000 electronic books, audio-visual materials as well as maps, charts, and archived materials.
